My 2001 400 Polaris Sportsman is stuck in reverse. The shifter feels really stuck and doesn't seem to move. If I force it I probably would break something. Is there a linkage to the transmission, or is it electric somehow? I felt around the box the shifter goes in to, and couldn't feel a linkage or anything to disconnect.
Don't have much to spend, any help appreciated.

I had the same thing happen to me earlier this year. Were you having difficultly shifting in and out of gears before this happened? Does your machine walk on it's own at idle while in gear? If so the problem is the primary clutch and it has caused your shifter box to get messed up. I was able to free my shifter box up by removing it from the machine and wiggling the handle around until it freed up. You will still need to fix the primary though or it will happen again.

It was not acting up at all that I remember, it just got stick and wouldn't shift after I backed up.
