I replaced one of these 10 months ago and used the vehicle for deer season. Maybe 20 miles. Last week I notice hte inner boot (next to trans) is already torn. OK, not great but I'll but a replacement boot and put it on. Not hard

I bought a ECCPP brand replacement and when I removed it to replace the boot I can not get the shaft out of the hub. Most have an expandable retainer clip but none here. So it looks like I have to replace the entire shaft because the boot was torn. There is nothing wrong with the cv but it appears ECCPP made it so you can't separate the shaft from the hub.

Anyone seen this before? Any help would be appreciated.

Big brass punch and a big ass hammer. The retaining ring is internal. You have to drive the cv cup off the shaft. Or you can buy or make a cv separator tool.

Thanks I did consider that. Might be the route I go.
