I just got a new to me 2002 400 Scrambler and I have a question on the CVT engagement. I have a 1994 400 2x4 for comparison. This Scrambler takes a lot of throttle/rpm then it kinda feels like a it bangs then takes off. My 1994 takes of smoothly compared to this. Ot ko we reminds me of car with auto trans snd high stall converter with hoped up engine.

Is there something wrong with the clutch/sheve or can something be adjust to change that?

Thanks Jeff!

clean the sheaves up with shop air, scotch-brite pad, break clean applied to a clean rag. i would also replace the belt.

Is there an aftermarket exhaust on it too?

Either way, stock or modified exhaust, it sounds like there's a clutch kit installed.

Take the cover off and see what color the primary spring is and what the numbers are on the weights. Post your findings up here, and it won't take long to tell.
