hi new here. i have a 04 sportsman and when i put it in 4wd it doesnt engage at first. when the rpms get high it kicks in hard any ideas thanks

You may need to change the fluid. Let it drain good, over night if possible, then refill with the Polaris fluid. It's not cheap but it doesn't take much, you can change a couple of times.

Sorry about that, I should have explain more. There is a front Differential on your machine in the center that the front axles connect to. This is the fluid that you need to change. There is a plug near the bottom to drain and a plug higher on the differential for refilling.
Get you a repair manual in book or online form. It will help you through all these maintenance issues. I hope this helps
