Not weird at all - Polaris superseded 4011485 to 2203130 and then discontinued 2203130
Time to face facts - the technology built into the vehicles has died of old age. Just like Windows 7, Vista, XP and 98 is no longer
supported by Microsoft, there are millions of computers still operating on those platforms, but since there is no support, as they fail, they will be replaced with newer systems by most users. I happen to have a degree in electronics (not computer sciences) and still use various platforms. I even have an old 286 computer running DOS 2.0 and Windows 3.11.
Down side of the 286 with Windows 3.11 - it has no USB ports, no wireless capability and had to have a serial port to RJ45 cable to network - upside, it is virus free with no antivirus software and no one is trying to hack it. I can use it to store data on 3.5 inch floppies and almost no one can access it.
The 15 year old ATP is a dinosaur - when it dies bury it and get the latest and greatest new model with built in GPS and smart technology. You can start it with your phone, the government can determine you location 24/7 and if you venture into a restricted area, you don't have to be apprehended at the scene, the authorities will just pick you up at you home at their convenience. You can be prosecuted and fined via satellite recorded data. Or you might find yourself stranded when authorities simply electronically disable your vehicle.
It's a shame that people develop an affection for a design and then the design is 'upgraded', but that is progress. Horses were replaced with steam engines, steam engines were replaced by diesel engines and diesel engines are destined to be replaced by solar powered electric engines that will operate on reflected sunlight and starlight, or we will just fear the night and hunker down until the sun rises and we can continue our journey.
We evolved from living in caves and hunting with spears, but are on a path to return to those times in order to save the planet. John Kerry be damned, he will die and the planet will survive. If we found a way to kill every living plant and animal on this rock, in a billion years it will be repopulated by something. Perhaps not by anything yet recognized as life, but the planet will survive unless those in power find a way to destroy it. The little people (those not in power) will not be responsible for the demise of the earth, but by those purported to save it.
