Hi all. I have been a lurker here for years. Great info and people here. I am having a hard time finding the wiring diagram for my 2008 polaris sportsman 500 ho. Carburetor model. I have the owners manuals and service manuals for both my 2000 and the 2008. But there must be a complete wire diagram for the 2008 that I cannot find on line. Does anyone have a copy?

Thank you! Page 2 came through great. Page 1 is a little blurry, like you said, but I think it is usable though if I can blow it up a little to read the socket pin numbers. I really appreciate it and that you took the time to help.

Have not had chance to check valve clearance yet. I just noticed when I turn key on I do not hear fuel pump run but on release of key I hear a "ratcheting" sound. Not sure what ratcheting sound is but I think I should hear fuel pump run. Any thoughts.

If you've heard the fuel pump run in the past, then you should still hear it - I don't work on Rangers, so my knowledge on them is limited, but the one you have has the same engine as the Sportsman ATV. Can't explain the ratcheting sound unless it's the key switch making poor contact and what you hear is the fuel pump kicking on and off. Next time it won't start, try spraying starting fluid into the intake while cranking the engine - if it starts, but if dies when you take the fuel away, then it is a fuel problem - if it starts and continues to run and will restart after shut off, then it may be valves.

Thanks for the help. I started trouble shooting problem checking to see if pump actually moved gas and if I had voltage to pump. Pump did not pump gas and I had voltage to one side of pump connector. I pretty much convinced myself the pump was bad but than noticed the male end of the electrical connector looked dirty inside. Tried cleaning and sliding connector in and out till I saw contacts shinny inside. Sure enough I worked, the pump came to life and the Ranger started. Tried it again today, I hear the pump cycle and it starts.

Sorry to say my fix wasn't a fix.. It's definitely a fuel pump problem but a intermittent one. For example it was running great. Parked it over night and it would not start next day. Turn key and you do not hear pump run. Pulled the seat off to inspect, turned the key and pump ran and it started. In your experience, does a bad fuel pump act this way?
