I have a 2009 Sportsman 550XP. This is my first Polaris. It is still in the break-in period. I noticed today that there is a clunk in the rear end at low speeds. It is not loud, but I can hear it. At high speeds it disappears. The ATV seems to perform fine. I have babied it during break-in for the most part. Is this normal for Polaris ATVs? If not any ideas what it might be?

Thank you in advance,

Does it clunk when you get on the gas or when you let off the gas?

I would say the clunking is when you are going steady around 10 mph. I do not remember hearing when I am on the gas. Possibly could hear it when not on the gas.

Is it a constant clunk or an intermittent. Might possible be a cv axle??

i think mine has been doing the same thing. mine will do it when im going round 30ish. when the trans and the engine are at the same speeds. when im just barly on the gas. to me it seems its the chain in the trans. like its jumping in the trans. but it works fine with no issues.
