Hello,

I hoping someone would have guidance. I use my machine to plow snow. Always in low. Today when plowing, I noticed a clicking noise almost like something was binding and releasing. Came from the clutches. I immediately tore it down and could find nothing wrong besides the belt was a little wore. I replaced with a brand new belt and took it out to plow again and still have the sound. I checked the one way and it was still good. I could not see anything visually in the primary or secondary that looked bad. When the noise is occuring, it also feels like I am pushing a load of snow. My immediate thoughts are something with the transmission... any other opinions or ideas??

Thanks!!

Hmmmmm sound like the diff is locking up. Change the fluid and inspect it. Should be basically clear.

Are the rear tires just beyond the point of braking loose, but not free-spin / burn-out? (You mentioned it's during heavy plowing)
You said low gear, are you AWD. Does it work?

AWD does work. Correct. They are just breaking loose but I have 50% power. I went out and played with it tonight. I found that all four differential bolts that hold it in place were loose. I tightened them and they immediately loosened. The diff certainly wiggled but not so much that I thought it would bind up the u joints.

Sad to hear this. I have a 2011 850 XP I recently bought and have been wrenching on, and I also noticed a loose differential. I just retorqued them all and figured it was 10 years old, it would just be something I put on my annual maintenance list to check them. But yours loosened up right away?

Might be time for a Cecco rear diff brace? I considered one but want to ride it a bit before I throw any more $$ at it.

Cecco brace
