Hi all,

Need some guidance on where to start. Mid-ride I noticed the headlights quit with no other symptoms for the rest of the ride or during a couple since. Finally got some time to look at it, figured out the 15A fuse labeled "EFI" was essentially melted. Bike has a carb so assuming the fuse block is used in several other models? Regardless, replacing the fuse with a good one means no power, no start. Key essentially does nothing. However, it continues to start and run fine with the fuse pulled?

I've searched looking for other posts with a similar problem and a fix, can't find one. Looking for some advice on where to start looking and what to do first?

Also, I don't have a service manual but would love to get one to have if someone can point me where to buy/download.

Thanks!

I don't have a manual or electrical schematic so we'll either have to wait for somebody that does or you can tell me if the machine functions 100% normal without the EFI fuse in???? If that's the case I would leave the fuse out obviously and would surmise that the issue is some shorted wires that are energizing that circuit causing the issues.

As far as I can tell, there's zero impact in riding without the fuse, other than there's no lights. I haven't noticed any other symptoms or concerns and it's been driven ~100 miles since I lost the lights. Super weird. But yep, hoping someone can help with a schematic to confirm what else the fuse impacts to know for sure and to give me a place to start looking for the problem.

Okay I'm sorry I missed the lights weren't working part of your post. So yeah you have some troubleshooting to do with your wiring. Definitely have some shorts and/or ground faults going on. I have a feeling when you put that fuse in it's back feeding the other circuits preventing them from working properly.

Check for corrosions on your left handlebar light switch there's two plugs take those plugs out and make sure there's no corrosion in the plug.

This guy is an electrical genius follow him for more genius electrical diagnostics tips and tricks. Maybe you should tell him to check his fuel pump pressure next or is it going to be to tell him to check his charging volts?
