Ok new here but not new to working on them. This is a 2013 500 ho carburetor model with no spark. Done disconnected the black wire from cdi. Now it's running but here the kicker all switches still work as they should kil switch and key switch will still kill the engine. Also before i disconnected the black wire i would get a spark from the coil connection when i disconnected them. I never seen that before so can someone try and explain this to me lol thanks alot

The 2013 has a DC CDI ignition system - the black wire is a kill wire - ground it and the ignition is squelched, but the CDI still has 12vdc supplied to it - remove the 12v power source and the ignition ceases to produce spark - so there is two ways to eliminate the spark. What fails to function with the black wire disconnected is the reverse speed limiter, engine over RPM limiter and the throttle safety switch.

Connect a continuity checker to the black wire of the wiring harness and a good ground - continuity will be indicated - unplug the 16 pin connector from the speedometer and if continuity is still indicated, adjust the throttle cable until continuity is lost. At this point plug the speedo back in and if continuity is not indicated, plug the black wire back into the CDI unit and everything will again function normally.
