2014 Sportsman 570 Runs... for 10 seconds

Hi everyone!

I bought my 2014 Sportsman 570 about a year ago and I noticed that it ran worse and worse until it had no power at all. I replaced the fuel pump about 3 months ago and it was running like a champ ever since. Until this weekend... I used the machine for some landscaping work - lots of start and stop low speed stuff. It ran great all morning and then shut off. After lots of cranking, it will start and run for about 5-10 seconds and then shut off. Sounds fine running when it starts, but touching the throttle kills it and it won't stay running. I replaced the battery (voltage was a little low on the old unit and it was 4 years old) - no change at all. It will start after much cranking, but won't stay running. I ordered a pressure testing kit that will be here tomorrow to verify that I'm getting enough fuel, I'm just wondering if I'm overlooking anything else I can check in the meantime. It behaves exactly the same with or without the gas cap on and I verified that the vent tube is clear and unobstructed. It has fresh gas and it was running fantastic all morning then this behavior came on immediately and it hasn't moved since.

Thanks for taking a look - I'll update as I learn more!

It does sound like symptoms of low fuel pressure, if you confirm it needs a new pump, this time buy a Quantum and never have to worry about it again.

Straight from the horse's mouth! 😁

My pressure testing kit arrived today and indicated a whopping 18psi coming off the 3 month old Amazon pump. On the plus side, I'm getting very proficient at taking plastics off. I appreciate the recommendation MrEd, I ordered a Quantum today and will update after I get it installed.
Sounds good, I’m glad it turned out to be that instead of a hard to track down electronic component.
