How hard does it start? If it starts harder than it did when you first got it there is a good chance you need you the valves adjusted. If they are way out, I would recommend pulling the head and going through it paying close attention to the valves that were loose.

Yes it does. Its under the air box on the front of the engine. That could very well be his problem.

IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE (IAC) Operation Overview The Idle Air Control (IAC) is used to stabilize the idle quality of the engine at cold start-up and after warm-up operations. Mounted in front of the engine, the IAC contains 1 stepper motor which receives varying voltage signal pulses from the ECU. These pulses determine the IAC plunger setting, thereby controlling the amount of air bypassing the closed throttle body for idle control. If the IAC is disconnected or inoperative, it will remain at it’s last operated position. IAC Test The IAC is a non-serviceable item. If it is faulty, it must be replaced. It can be ‘bench tested’ using the following method: Set your meter to read Ohms. Check the resistance values at each of the following pin locations of the IAC. If any of the readings are out of specification, replace the IAC. IAC Replacement 1. Remove the seat, upper side panels and front cab (see Chapter 9). 2. Remove the (2) screws retaining the airbox to the frame. 3. Disconnect the main vehicle harness from the ECU and ignition coil located on either side of the airbox. 4. Disconnect the shift linkage from the shift lever. 5. Remove the spark plug wires 6. Remove the breather hose from the valve cover breather. 7. Loosen the clamp and remove the intake boot from the intake plenum. 8. Remove the airbox assembly from the vehicle. IAC Resistance Readings Pins Resistance Pins Resistance 1 - 2 30  ± 1.2  4 - 5 30  ± 1.2  2 - 3 30  ± 1.2  5 - 6 30  ± 1.2  1 - 3 60  ± 2.4  4 - 6 60  ± 2.4 
