Welcome to the forum17 highlifter 850, has new voltage regulator, battery key switch and circuit breaker, still just clicks at starter relay, and randomly says low volts, starter is maybe 3 months old
No I have not been able to, it want even turn over just clicks has starter relay in the fuse box, I went out for a ride turned it off while I was opening the garage and went to start it back up and just clicksHave you measured voltage on starter post of solenoid when cranking ?
No voltage is getting to the starterUnplug the starter solenoid coil wires , check for 12 volts on the harness plug there with someone turning the key .to start position .
I cannot get the Manuel to work for me is there a more in depth part on no power to red and white wire to starterFrom the service manual -
TROUBLESHOOTING
Starter Motor Does Not Run
• Battery discharged
• Loose or faulty battery cables or corroded connections
(see Voltage Drop Tests)
• Related wiring loose, disconnected, or corroded
• Poor ground connections at battery cable, starter
motor or starter solenoid (see Voltage Drop Tests)
• Faulty key switch or Off/Run Switch
• Faulty transmission switch
• Faulty Start Diode(s). Use a digital multi-meter to test
diode operation. Locate the diode(s) in the main
harness under the hi-temp conduit and measure
between the diode connections. Continuity should flow
one direction only.
• Faulty starter solenoid or starter motor
• Engine problem - seized or binding (can engine be
rotated easily)
Do you mean you can't download the manual or you don't understand it ?I cannot get the Manuel to work for me is there a more in depth part on no power to red and white wire to starter
I am not getting 12 volts to relay and if I try and jump #42 to 45# bike still doesn’t start,Where the starter relay is , you should have 12 volts + on #42 ,red/white wire , this is batt. power to starter relay , fed from battery , hot all the time .
When you turn key to crank position , the starter relay energizes and power goes out on #45 , white/red wire to starter solenoid .
Yea I am not getting any voltsFirst off , you need 12 volts + on #42.
#42 goes to the battery , it has a fusible link in the wire close to the battery
I am only get 11 volts on pin #42 and at the red white wire on the starter, has a brand new battery already been load tested since purchasing new, and cables was cleaned on installIt's so common that the battery cable needs cleaning from time to time.
Not long ago my Sportsman XP1000 and my Kodiak 700 EPS was giving problems starting and cleaning the cables did the trick.
Voltage did not change at solenoid still reads beetween 10-11 voltsput a jumper from 42 to 45 and read voltage at the starter solenoid .
It also randomly showing low 10.8 volts on dash battery is chargedput a jumper from 42 to 45 and read voltage at the starter solenoid .
Starter did not kick in, I had to get a separate battery and put jumpers directly on the starter and it turned ir overSounds like starter is bad , run a wire from battery pos to the starter solenoid , starter should kick in .
