Machine is a 19 touring 850. Had tough shifting and driveline vibration on decel since new. In under warranty twice, of course nothing found. Now with 600 miles the one way bearing is torched, like whole bearing is bright blue and inner cogs on belt are melted off. Replaced bearing, installed QSC clutch kit, put the thing together and the belt is now riding HARD on the inner sheave <engine side> of the primary clutch. Currently have 6 shims installed and still dragging..... what's going on?? How many shims can I install? What else can I do to get this thing working right??

Dealer has washed their hands basically. Polaris has refunded me a couple hundred bucks since I complained to them. But I still have a machine with under 700 miles that doesn't work right.

I hope someone can help out a little bit....
Thanks!

front of the secondary, using oem shim washers.
When you say front, are you putting the shims on the secondary shaft before putting the secondary clutch on the shaft?

I'm saying clutch goes on shaft, shims go on bolt that holds clutch onto the shaft. Machine had 4 shims installed from factory. I've added 2 more in an attempt to align the belt/clutches. Adding shims move the clutch/belt away from the engine <towards rear of machine> belt has moved some but is still not centered inside the primary clutch

I had this same issue with my ‘17 1000, vibration, smoked the one way bearing, and wore the sheathes badly. Under warranty Polaris replaced the bearing and sheathes. Not the whole primary. Still had the vibration and the belt was wearing way to fast. I actually tried shimming the secondary also. I got pissed and ordered a new primary clutch and put the shims back to where they were originally on the secondary. Problem went away completely. I have no idea what the actual issue was but that primary went into the dumpster.

You could have a factory defect. They are out there and even if it's only one out of a thousand, well you could have that one. But there are lots of peeps on here that have tons of info and lots of it good. Keep reading and doing your research into the problem. I'd be curious to know.

Did you ever get this issue resolved? If so what was the problem? Thanks.

Adding "shims" to the front of the secondary will not change alignment.

If belt is rubbing the engine side primary sheave, you need to pull the secondary, add shim(s) then reinstall

Not on the 850/1000's. You add or remove washers (OP is calling them shims) to the bolt that secures the secondary which in turn pushes the secondary closer to the engine or further away.

Hey everyone! So machine is 90% fixed. I pulled both clutches off again, re installed both, started with 2 shims on secondary. Torqued it, drove around the yard, checked and the alignment showed it needed a 3rd. Installed the 3rd, torqued, rode around the yard again and it's perfect... happy that's "fixed" but no idea what was wrong from the beginning.

Still having some issues with the clutch kit, more so not happy with how it's performing and will likely go back to stock. I've attempted to contact QSC who I bought the kit from as well as RVS as they've been recommended for tech help... no response from either. But that's another days project. For now the machine is rideable and I've put about 300 miles on since repair with no notable issues.

For now, keep the throttle pinned and the rubber side down.

Have you called them? Email? They were very helpful and responsive with me. Ryan used to be pretty active on this forum as well but I haven’t seen him around in a while.
