Hi, wondering if anyone else has experienced this with their machine. I have less than 7 hours on it. It starts ok but within 15 seconds, it begins “hunting”, idle changes from ~600 to 1200 rpm, up and down several times then dies. I can get the machine in gear and ride right away taking it easy for a minute or two and the idle is fine. This is my first Polaris. Is this normal? Temp has been around freezing, nothing extreme.

Any dealer has to work on it. But obviously if you can chk a few things on your own that would be what I would do at least.

Hi guys. Thanks for the replies. Had a chance to go out tonight. Temp is -2c. Started up and let idle for about 1 minute and it started hunting again. I gently increased rpm to about 2800 for about 20 seconds. Released, and no change. I shut off the machine and restarted. Rpm steady.... for 15 seconds then same thing, hunting. I took it for a run and it seemed to run fine (as far as I know). The voltage was good at 14.2 I believe but it seems that the battery has a hard time turning the engine over at startup. When I turn the key, there is a second or two before the engine turns and starts. Just seems like it’s struggling. Although, again, this may be normal for Polaris with it being my first one. I just know my king quad (smaller engine mind you) turns over much easier. Thanks for all your replies and suggestions. I am taking it in this week but would still appreciate any feedback you may have. Cheers eh.

Make sure your battery, solenoid, and starter have all solid connections. Also pull and reinstall all the fuses and relays. Make sure those all have good solid contacts.

Are you going for many short runs? not getting the bike up to operating temperature? It takes about 30 minutes of riding time to recharge the battery from what the starter draws out of the battery to get it back charged. Make sure your battery is at 12.8 volts before trying to start, check it with a volt meter. You may need to bring the battery up to a full charge with a trickle charger.
