I bought a brand new Polaris today and decided to go ride a little bit I did slow speeds in low and high and rode for a little over an hour and noticed smoke and I knew by the smell it was the belt. Did I mess up the belt? Is that just apart of the break in? Do I need to replace the belt already?

Thank you! I’ve been worried about it since I got back from riding. How long should I be careful with the belt and everything? Normal break in or sooner or later?

10hrs of varied and moderate throttle input is what I do. Nothing over 3/4 throttle in the first 10hrs. I change the motor oil within the the first 10-20 hours. Grease the bushings and prop-shaft. Pop the air-filter cover off and make sure the filter looks good.
