Hey guys just want some input on the maxxis Zilla tires. Wondering if i should go with a 26" or 27" i want a little bigger tire for my sportsman 500 not trying to rob any power and make it handle like crap. I hear zillas run small if anyone has them in the 26" or 27" im wondering what they measured? Any help would be appreciated my riding on this bike consists of crusing trails with the girlfriend hitting every mud hole i see pulling heavy loads and making trails extreme riding. thanks

I have the 26" Zillas and I have nothing but good things to say about them. The only complaint comes form the people who ride behind me on the trail. The Zillas will throw rocks and roost behind my ATV for days! Most people who ride behind me only ride close for a little while...

The traction is very good on all surfaces. I do mostly trail riding and river bottoms. I usually try to stay out of the deepest mud so I can't say how they are in that stuff but I'm sure they're pretty good. I don't feel like I've lost any power. The good thing about the Zillas is they are lighter than most tires. Even though they aren't radials, they handle very well on the hard pack and black top. I've had my ATV up around 70 mph on the dirt roads and it handled very well. Didn't notice any swerving or vibration either. I wouldn't ever recommend going that fast, I was only there for a moment as I was checking out the top end of my ATV.

As far as the difference between the 26" and 27". I don't know why everyone says they run small. I think they're right on size if not a little bigger. Here's a pick of them on my ATV next to stock ones. I'm not sure what the weight difference is but I'm sure it's not very much. You could probably get away with 27" without any noticeable difference.

im assuming you should measure between because that would be the height minus the lug.....as far as the stock 500 tires go thats the company's measurement....the 850 has 26" stock didn't check out the true height some show it others don't.....from what I have read is zillas run small but with the picture next to an 850 stock 26" they look true to height

I run 6-9 depending on where I'm riding. I guess 7 would be best for all around riding.

Probably not going to fit on an X2 without some rub in the rear. If...going from a 10" wide to the 11"...

Not sure about on stock wheels. The only place I would be concerned with would be the passenger foot rest on the inside of the wheel wells. They're not much larger than stock so they should work just fine. Especially if you stick with the 26"

26" Zilla w/7psi vs 25" OEM 489 w/5psi
How much bigger is the zilla? Not very much!!! If u want bigger then stock, go 27". No power lose or ill handling with the 26's so you could go 27 or 28 and have no issues.

from the looks of things they are about the same size? I appreciate the picture i was looking for a tire a hair over stock size but no roll ect.....as i do aggressive trail riding at times....you use spacers or washers? I was going to go that route but i figured ill have to mount em and then have the stock tires that are worth maybe 100 for all 4 laying around so i just bought some itp wheels and 26" im waiting on my buddy to bring em over and bolt em up

Congrats! One good thing about sticking with the 26" is that you won't have to worry about the extra weight or added resistance of a larger tire. These machines go so fast and have such a great suspension that I seriously doubt you would notice a half inch difference in ride height you would get with the 27s. Now get out there and ride and show us some great pics!
