I believe I was told the 2013 400/500 could take the battery from the 800 with no battery tray modifications, only a fix for having the posts reversed.

My question is, I ordered up a Deka ETX/30L; I haven't yet went to see if it will fit, but it sure appears to be larger than the tray will hold. My research said this would be the battery to fit a Sportsman 800... what gives?

Why didn't you order one for a 400/500?

Odd.... I thought all "Value Line" batteries were the same, when I looked them up in the store a couple months back. :dunno:

Because even the best factory sized battery for the 400/500 is anemic. Factory battery is I believe 14 Ah, AGM batteries are available that bump it to 16ah. The 800 has AGM batteries available that are from 26Ah to 30Ah. That's basically twice the capacity.
