I'v got a 97 Polaris Sportsman 400 4x4 2 stroke.
The engine is bad, got another engine, it's bad, got another
engine it's ..... well bad.

Can I put a 400 4-Stroke on this frame instead of a 2 stroke
and if so what if anything do I have to change?

Thanks,
Mike

P.S. Never have ridden the Sportsman yet due to bad Engine. :motz:

You probably can put a 4 stroke motor in that frame, but you need everything from that motor to go with it. Your 2 stroke electronics won't run it. You would need the electronics from the 4 stroke motor, it's exhaust, possibly it's air intake system, etc.

But 2 strokes are so freaking less complicated the 4 strokes, what's wrong with all the other motors? You should be able to get one rebuilt far cheaper then any 4 stroke.

Honestly, the time and money you would spend doing this probably isn't worth it. You may want to consider selling it as-is with all the motors. Mechanics; or some guys would to pick this thing up with all the motors; and use that money to get yourself a 4-stroke?
