570 timing chain tensioner gasket material type

570 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  rainmanx
Currently rebuilding the top end on my 18 570. Upon removing the timing chain tensioner it didn't have a gasket on it. The head was replaced by the dealer in 2020 and apparently they overlooked that.

I ordered new bolts and that gasket, the gasket is back ordered until November. I had plans to ride next weekend and would really like to get it out back together. Does anybody know what material and approximate thickness it is?

Thanks, Matt

I believe the gasket is metal. Its thin. Not sure on an exact measurement.
The part is available on ebay and many other online part sellers.
You may be able to take the tensioner to the auto parts store and find a metal drain plug gasket that fits.

A copper washer could be used until the correct gasket is acquired.
Mine was also missing when I disassembled it. I am the first person, so not sure why.

didn't leak
