:banghead:Anyone install a slip on yet for thier 850. I like the HMF Swamp XL but don't know about thier optimizer, I keep hearing shady things about it being hard to dial in. I may have to go with the hotseat and try it w/ out a programmer any ideas? I don't mind loud, We ride in the middle of no where most of time.

I am interested in this slip-on also. I don't think you will have to run a optimizer or a programmer for only a slip-on ..... but a full pipe set I think you would need some added fuel.

I just heard from LTE and they are in the process of making the slip-on for the 850 in the next couple of weeks. The dual set-up should be available shortly thereafter. The Outties sound sooo good with thier dual set-up.

if you want a warranty on the exhaust you have to put the optimizer on it if you dont care about warranties then you dont have to run one. if you dont care about sound just pull the muffler off it sounds pretty badass.

I am running a Hot Seat on my 2010 850 and it does great. I did not put a programmer on it and it does just fine. I have over 800 miles on it and just put new brake pads on and that is it. Runs great.

I have a 2005 Sportsman 800 EFI and I run a Super Trapp IDSX Slip on system.
I've added a K&N filter and also installed the air box kit which is 6 1 inch
filtered cutouts to allow for more air to flow. Which in turn lets the motor breathe. To date I have not added a programmer however I may at some point. I won't need to do any Exhaust mods. If I do the programmer will map it for the way I have set up. Super Trapp uses a Disc system in the silencer. These Discs are used to fine tune your exhaust. The unit comes with 12 discs. The're very simple to install or remove. By adding or removing discs you can Richen up or Lean it out your mixture. Polaris EFI's generally come from the factory a bit on the rich side. I'm running all 12 discs. You can feel the difference as soon as you hit the throttle. It pulls longer and it takes care of that flat line power in the mid RPM range. The Exhaust sounds great and if it does for your 850 what it did for my 800 I'm sure you'll be smiling all the way through the MUD HOLE.

I just put the HSP slip-on on my `07 800 efi.
I called and talk to a tech and was told I didn't need a programmer.
So I didn't and it's running fine.

I had my eye on the HMF swamp XL for a long time, but didn't do it as for the
need of the programmer (so I was told from the HMF tech).

I had the swamp xl watched in my ebay, put a call into the store that was selling it and was told you didn't need the programmer either. They sold to many locals that didn't run it with the programmer.

The HSP slip-on was cheaper then the swamp xl, but you have to repack it yourself once a year I was told, more if you like mudding.

I wasn't looking for any additional power, just a different sound.

racer,

Here ya go.
My 800 had the stock duals with the crossover pipe.
Not truly a dual exhaust though.
HSP was great to deal with, I ordered the muffler and the turn down tip.
Ken called me and said they'd install it for free,
plus they kept the stock tip and gave me a credit for it (about $30).

slip on

you don't need a programmer for a slip on.
but if you want to make sure do a hot run with your quad, after it is warmed up then shut it off as quick as you can safely. then take the plugs of and see what they look like , they will tell you if you need it or not.
i just put on a hot seat slip on , and in the papers it recommends but does not require a programmer.it does not void warranty either way.
by the way great exhaust.
it also makes a difference if you have a after market air filter like a K&N.
my 2011 850 has K&N and hot seat exhaust and runs like a champ after 2nd start. comp need to adjust settings.
now great more low end punch, next clutch kit . pro next year.
