Hey all,

So, a couple weeks ago my uncle took my 1 month old 2019 850 SP Premium over a 100ft cliff and totaled it :( (he is fine). I just got my insurance money and I basically got my down payment back.

I loved the 850, sooooooo much fun but now that I have another shot I was looking at the XP1000 premium! I was wondering if anyone has ridden both? Is the money difference worth it? Is there really a huge difference between the two? Any insight would be awesome!

Thanks!

Most people will tell you that there is not much difference, maybe only 10hp or so, but the torque is a different story. Both are plenty fast, but a 1000 feels like an 850 on Steroids. My buddy has an 850, and in the dirt it comes down to who can hook up faster. On pavement, the 1000 will pull away every time.

I have the 850sp. Brother-in-law has the 1000. I wanted the 1000 searching for a quad. Found a great deal on my 18 last year model and couldn’t justify the xtra cost for a 1000
I got to ride his once, and yeah I could tell a power difference. I even recently put a pipe and dynojet on my 850 but still doesn’t feel like the 1000.
I would say if your fine paying the xtra cash for the 1000 go for it.

The thing is, you cant get a stronger machine... its the top, and there's neat tools like the electronic throttle, the Bluetooth and probably others.

Also the price difference wasnt that much between the 850sp and the 1000.

If you ride a lot, you save tons of $ in gas with the "standard setting", and you get the whole 90hp with normal gaz, no need for 91 octane (like the can am).

I currently own both. Hands down the xp1000 is more fun to ride. The clutching along with the electronic throttle makes it butter smooth. The brakes are on all four wheels instead of three. Yes, the power is better also. Power was not the deciding factor for me. I like the power but the electronic throttle was the option that I wanted.

Yes, I got the premium with all the goodies. 2018 Lava Orange. I have had it for just over a year and have 3000 plus miles on it.

The pull on the thumb is much lighter and more responsive than the cable set up.

I was like like you with buying a 1000 over the 850. Decided to go with the 1000. Glad I did and have never looked back. I do use the 850 for a work toy around the property but when I go riding for fun, I ride the 1000.

Wow, thanks for the responses...sorry, been away for work. Well, I make my decision tomorrow! I am paying cash, these are the out the door prices WITHOUT the extended warranty.
850 SP Premium $12,400
1000 XP Premium $14,250

ONe thing I did notice today was that the 850 has a rear and front bumper but the 1000 only has a front??? Am I seeing that correct?

My bil 1000 came with both bumpers. But his is a 17. Maybe they changed it.
Do the 850 come with the better tires? If not that’s a lot of xtra coin for some bumpers and a winch. I got my 850sp out the door for 8900.

Looking at the polaris site it says it only comes with a front bumper.... the tires on the 1000 are the better ones I believe.

The dealer I purchased from would NOT take cash........ they are a high volume dealer and they did not want all that cash in the business for multiple reasons. They wanted a personal check. The Saturday morning I picked it up there were trucks there from SD, MN, In, and Ia picking up new machines.

I know it’s a drive, but have you checked with the dealer in Eugene Oregon. I searched all over and by far got the best price from them. Small dealer, no bs, great prices.

My 18 came with front bumper only. Dealer threw in the and installed the Rear for free with the deal. Mine came with Maxxis Viper tires. I really like the tires it came with. That was another selling point for me. It also came with a 3500lb winch with synthetic cable and premium seat. The winch control is a really neat set up compared to the aftermarket stuff.

Love my Lava Orange 1000 xp. If I had a choice to buy anything again, I would buy the same bike.

I’ve had every 1000 that polaris has made to date. The new body style 1000 has some extra big balls with that performance tune over previous models. I went trail riding yesterday and every time I cracked the throttle open I couldn’t believe how hard it was pulling. You’ll really enjoy the 1000 !!

FPD218- Those prices dont exist in my state...lol. Its an 11k Bike MSRP unfortunately.

Yes, when I purchased MSRP was $11,499 I called 4 other dealers closer to where I live and they would not budge on the MSRP and had the added Freight & Setup fees on top of that, then tax. The Dealer in Abrams Wi was more than 2.5K cheaper for the same machine out the door, heck a 2019 850 SP Premium only comes one way, one color, one option......... I made the drive
