Having an issue : while machine is running and I switch on the lights or the fan(manual switch) the engine dies. I used to be able to turn the lights and/or fan on before starting and it would start and run but now it will also just die shortly after starting. I am getting a good charge to battery. I don't think the lights or fan run off the battery anyway so something senses the draw from lights/fan and shuts down. Any help appreciated.

The lights and fan do run off the battery - the lights were wired to come on without the engine running from the factory - not knowing how the fan was monkeyed with, I'm going to guess the fan was grounded to a black wire (ground on many vehicles) - the black wire is the kill wire on the machine in question and brown is ground - connect black to ground and the engine dies. Correct the wiring and it will be fine.

Thank you for the info. My fan switch just replaces the thermostat switch so it uses the same brown ground to the board. Do you know how and where the board grounds to frame?

I had a bad ground at the board. I just ran a wire from an open post in the ground area of the board and secured it to frame. All working now. Electrical gremlins are the worst. Thanks for the help.
