No Reverse..... Likely something wrong / broken in the transmission.

 

I have reverse, 4 wheel drive is not engaging when I am in reverse.

 

Sorry, I misunderstood you / had a brain fart..... I read it that "you didn't have reverse", not as "you didn't have AWD in reverse"!

So, yes..... push the "override" button while in reverse, and it will allow the AWD to work correctly and turn off the "rev - limiter".

Not familiar with the explorer but if it's like the older sportsmans. you have to push and hold the yellow override button on your left handlebar in order for the four wheel drive to work in reverse.

 

Wait. Does the 300 even have four wheel drive?

 

Yes, 4 wheel drive works fine forward just not reverse. I will try the override button. Thanks!!!

 

Override button that also helps if you have to back up fast in 2wd

 

Yes. On alot of the Polaris ATVs you have to press and hold the yellow oeride button for the AWD to work.
