I have a 99 Sportsman and the speedo died for the second time. This time not under warranty. This seems to be somewhat common. Has anyone ever tried to fix one or no what fails on these?

Also will a newer speedo work (04 and up) on the older sportsmans? Have they fixed the problem with these weak speedometers? Anyone have a used one to sell me?

I would like my 4 wheel drive to work, would rather not pay for a new speedo and don't really care to know how fast I am going.:banghead:

Thanks,
Ryan

I have seen my fair share of these speedo's fail over the years. But some will last forever. Here is what I have learned about them. Do not hook the battery up wrong this will fry the speed. Make sure all ground connections are clean and tight. Make sure the speedo's connection is secure and has a light coat of dielectric grease on them. Do not ride your machine if you are having an electrical problem or your machine is flashing a code. Hope this helps!
