I have a 2008 700 X2 with about 700 miles on it. A few weeks ago I took it off the trailer and all of a sudden I heard loud grinding sound coming from the front diff when it was in ADC (active decent control) was on.
I found out that the ADC resevoir had no fluid in it.
I topped up the fluid, a little while later the noise went away.
Yesterday I went for a ride in steep country and noticed that the ADC was not working in High or low range.
When decending down a steep hill the engine braking didn't make any difference whether I was in ADC or not.
Any ideas as to what this could be? Is the unit broken? Or are they repairable?

Maybe need to bleed the air out of the system?

I spoke with my dealer and he told me to change the demand drive fluid.(front diff)
So that's what I did yesterday and it was really black color.
I took it for a short test drive and that seems to have fixed the problem.
The manual says to change fluid yearly and the bike is only 10 months old.
I guess I will have to change it more often.

I have a 2008 700 X2 with the same problem. I am going to bled the ADC Fluid first when it warms up a little. Hopefully this next weekend.
You had to change both the demand drive fluid and the ADC fluid to get the ADC to work again?
Thanks for your post.

I did not change the ADC fluid.... as I mentioned at the start of the thread there was no fluid in the ADC resevoir, so I just topped it up.
The dealer told me to change the demand drive fluid every 25 hours..... this is not what the manual says but I am convinced that it needs to be changed more often than once a year.
