I have a fimco 12v spreader that I use for salt and sand to combat the ice that builds up on the driveway. My problem with it is that the material clumps up or bridges over the opening to the fan. Has anyone tried some sort of agitator to break up clumps and to break down the bridges that form? Right now I just keep reaching back with a stick and stirring it as I try to maneuver down the driveway. NOT very easy or efficient.
Thanks for your help.

I have a similar issues with my tow-behind spreader and added a short length of chain to the agitator as an attempt to create more movement and to break the bridges. It seems to work well with dry salt/sand mixes but the real test will be when i have to use the wetter mix.
