I just bought my first ATV. It's a '96 Polaris Magnum 425 2X4. I'm curious if there are any other of those on here. Mine seems to be in pretty good condition considering its age. I'm gonna need to buy the manual for it and another part. What is the general opinion of that model? I'm just riding trails behind my house and using it for some yard work.

I've got a '96 Magnum 425 that I purchased new. Over the years it has been a good machine.

I've got a 97 mag 425 4x4. In its day it was decent power wise. Nothing for today's standards. But mine runs real smooth. Perfect for what your doing with it. Mine is wife's machine/ back up.

I have a 97-425 4x4 its been a good machine, a few years ago I put a 500 Ho motor in it, has 12.to 1 wiseco piston in it , also porting and polishing,theres not a 500 ho that will touch it, it also likes to out run 660 grizzleys. The chains and sprockets are kind of a constant battle to keep adjusted and in good shape.

Mine is a 2000 model but I have been thoroughly impressed by it. Great machine. My buddy has a late mid 90's trailboss which is very similar and he also has had great luck with his.

i have a 97 .... snorkeled and tires and it does real well! currently building a custom lift (possibly around 6" or so)
