The best idea yet I've seen is sit this chick on the atv and I guarantee they will take her and leave it, unless you get a gay crook
The best idea yet I've seen is sit this chick on the atv and I guarantee they will take her and leave it, unless you get a gay crookhere's an idea, grab a chunk of winch line, and string it through your quad, then go grab a electric fence charger crank up the power to maximum output, and hook up the winch line to the charger
I have a huge sliding shed door and my bedroom is right beside the shed. The shed door is locked in 3 places, i refuse to grease it and it makes a god awful scretching noise when opened. Would definitely wake me up if i was asleep. My gun is always within arms reach from the bed anyway, loaded and ready.
Unless they can get it out the window i doubt mine will be stolen. Well, that is if they don't cut a hole in the shed door, which i hope i would hear. Plus my neighbors and i keep a watch on strange vehicles pulling up when we are gone.
If all else fails, my neighbors love my pit bull, german sheperd and lab. But it may be the yorkshire terrier that eats them up, he's the meanest
EDIT: I don't want to shoot anybody, if i catch someone in my shop, i'll grab the shotgun for intimidation and tell them to sit down if they try to run that i will shoot them. Call the cops, make the wait for the cops or get shot. Simple, if they are leaving the drive way when i see them, ill probably shoot them. I have no itentions of killing though, the gun beside my bed is a winchester long barrel 20 gauge loaded with bird shot. I keep my mossberg 88 12 that has a pistol grip loaded with 3 inch slugs or triple buck shot just incase someone tries to break in my house or wiggle the doorknob trying to come in on me. Then, I have intent to kill.
This is definitely the best of the best, and the funniest alsoWe have a winner.I just put a Arctic cat Atv cover on it who would steal it
one robber left me 20 $ he felt sorry for me I guess
They aren't stupid, last time I looked trespassing or robbery weren't crimes punishable by death. The op said something about shooting to kill through a door. He's been watching way too much TV. What if that person on the other side of the door was a child or a neighbor. My God guys, use some common sense. If someone is in your house...fire away, but if they aren't, and you have something protecting you from them such as a door, the stand your ground law, just flew out the window, because you cant be in fear for you life while someone has a door between them and you. Let them break the door down and then shoot. The one guy spoke about shooting in the back and then turning them over and shooting them again. Do you actually think you would get away with that, more tv crap. When I took my CCW the officer told us not to ever shoot someone outside the house and then drag them into the house. His exact words are, We have ways to know where he was when he was shot, and also have ways to see he was shot in the back first then rolled over and shot again. Those r the stupidest laws ever!! If someone is stealing your stuff or breaking into your house or shop I think you should be able to shoot onsite!! Just like what sense does it make if someone is trespassing on you property and they get hurt that they can sue u?I have a huge sliding shed door and my bedroom is right beside the shed. You shoot someone leaving your driveway, you better have a great lawyer. You can use the same lawyer after you shoot through the door, and the guy running out of your shop will sue the pants off of you and take all your guns, after you shoot a retreating subject. Wow you better take a course on when to shoot and when not to. It sounds like you are more of a danger than the crook

This is an entirely different situation, and ur right, I agree with you about someone trespassing and being hurt, then suing you, but as the op stated about shooting someone leaving his driveway, or shooting through a closed door, both situations may lead you to a lot of problems, and isn't very smart in my opinion. I've never seen a case where shooting at a fleeing subject, was considered justified, unless the subject was fleeing and shooting at you at the same timeI bet U wouldn't have the same thought if someone sued the shit out of u when they was trespassing on ur land and broke there leg!!They aren't stupid, last time I looked trespassing or robbery weren't crimes punishable by death. I didn't say u should shoot them for trespassing!! But they should have no legal ground to sue u if they get hurt while doing it!!

I read it and it seems like you can shoot anyone you want to in Kentucky, as long as you make up a good story. It still doesn't say that its ok to shoot a retreating suspect. I guess Mitch talked to the statesmen in KY and they decided he needed to protect himself.Come to Kentucky...
I have to agree with you on that one, Don't all states?I live about 10 miles north of the line and have worked in TN for the last 11 years. You guys have plenty of laws that register pretty low on the sensible scale yourselves.![]()
I've owned 3 Kawasaki motorcycles and they all had the feature you are talking about. I guess the reason Polaris doesn't use it is because they aren't Kawasaki and possibly cost, and you are right, It would be a great idea on a quad. Not a foolproof device but definitely would slow a thief down. But still the best idea I've seen yet was from the guy who put an Arctic Cat cover on his so no on would steal it. He said one thief felt so sorry for him, that the thief left him a twenty dollar bill.....now that's good stuff...lolI lock mine up in my shop with a theft deterent system which protects everything else in the shop too. But I have always wondered (I posted this on the forum a couple years ago but never got a response) why manufacturers haven't taken a page out of Kawasaki's idea way back in 1980 when we bought a new KZ1300. It had a feature where when the handle bars were turned all the way to the right (it could be to the left just as well) and the key was removed, the steering was locked in that direction. Why can't atv/utv manufacturers do this with their machines? Makes a lot of sense and would be simple.
Tongue locks are pretty much worthless. If the thief has a crescent wrench with him he just unscrews the nut on the ball and takes the ball and trailer an allI have insurance. If they really want it they are going to get it. I do lock it to my trailer and the trailer has a tongue lock on it. I also have a battery cut off in the airbox.
In that case, good luck to you when you need to get the ball off. I often have thought of that idea just never have done itGood luck tryin that with mine bc my ball shank and nut r welded together!! How was your trip to Mexico. Was Senor Frogs still there??Don't know why everyone thinks loud is cool? Nothing is cooler than stealth and silence, especially to your neighbors.
Cubic inches has absolutely nothing to do with a good exhaust sound. Some of the sweetest cars I've ever heard had very small motors but made lots of hp....think indy car.....European supercars.....even a few Asian cars sound very good and don't have lots of cubic inches, just well thought out engines and tuned exhaust......a high compression small block chevy turning lots of rpm sounds fantastic without being a big cubic inch motor.Go to an established muffler shop, not just some fly by night joint, they can direct towards what sounds good. But in reality, it takes cubic inches to make for a truly good sounding exhaust. You can have nice sounding vehicles without being just loud. The key is to pick your exhaust parts carefully where you end up with a sweet sounding vehicle and not a pos loud vehicle...
Well, I would guess that is a difference of opinion. I have never heard a rice burner that ever sounded decent.Cubic inches has absolutely nothing to do with a good exhaust sound. I happen to like cubic inches, the volume of air moving thru the exhaust is what makes it, for me, in my humble opinion.
I would much rather deal with any emotional aftermath as not have any aftermathI don't believe your following here and I don't wanna hijack the thread anymore than we already have but I have to say this to make it simple and clear:No, i don’t agree with neither, no one can be humanly prepared because all situations are different, you can be an expert in handguns, practice all the time, have 1000+ rounds under your belt but when that time comes instinct kicks in and decisions are made. While serving a tour in Iraq i was with the 160th Special Ops and i had the honor to serve with Special Forces, Rangers, Navy Seals, and Recon Snipers and they all say the same thing. When you get shot at is pucker action and your instincts take over, but when you take some one’s life it doesn’t matter if it’s the enemy or not there is no preparing, no training in the world that will make you deal with that. You can be prepared as much as humanly possible. Will it be enough, no. But that doesn't mean I won't go practice etc. I should say then be more prepared than not, as in someone who goes and buys a gun and never shoots it or takes the time to learn how to clean it, operate it and maintain it. Wouldn't you agree?
I am all for dealing with the consequences afterwards if it saves my life or someone else's life. Wouldn't you agree?
As far as the second part? If you really went to the CCP class, they teach you that the first words out of your mouth when involved in a shooting is "I WANT TO TALK TO A LAWYER" protecting my life "YES" my kids and family "YES" a stranger "NO" you are not a Police Officer, I was a third Generation Police Officer and my dad always told me
"A Hero is someone who did something stupid and live to tell about it"
Don’t try to be a Hero!!!
I'll use my gun if I have to, it matters not what kind of demons I'll have afterwards, the fact that it'll be hard to deal with afterwards doesn't change the fact that I will defend myself or others from harm. This is the same thing Law Enforcement and the Military do day in and day out. I'm not going to choose to be harmed just because I don't thik I can't deal with it afterwards.
What's so hard to understand here? It's like your completely missing the point.
I'm not arguing that "I can deal with the emotional aftermath". Just simply that I'll defend myself, and I bet you would too, if put in harmful or deadly situation.
As far are legal matters. God forbid I am ever in a situation like this your best bet is to say NOTHING to the police, absolutely NOTHING. There's a famous defense attorney that has a lecture on YouTube that sums it all up. NOTHING good can come of saying ANYTHING to the police until you have consulted an attorney.
Who said anything about being a hero? Try to follow next time. I'm done commenting on this. It's like talking to a 3yr old.
You should thank that thief Mick...lolJust got a wake up call ,, lulled into a false sense of security , leaving the city for the country. 2 boxers and a pit that bark at everyone that comes to the house. Motion sensors on the rear driveway , bedroom window open , ATV 20 feet from window. House is in the middle of 10 acres and not visible from the road. Gravel driveways . Solid heavy rain , wake up, bike is gone. No lights, no barking, no noise . I am a light sleeper with two babys in the house. My 9mm close at all times . No tracks , lock and chain gone as well. Called the insurance company after a day of searching known hangouts. They were reluctant to take the claim on my homeowners policy at first . I only use it on the farm , cutting grass hauling wood and materials and snow plowing. Finally got them to agree on it's use . Make sure you have the right policy for your ATV,, things could go south at any time. Oh, and my deductible is 1% of my house replacement value. Never even noticed that policy change last month.
Good news is I can replace the Rubicon with a 2012 Sportsman 850 w/ ESP . Less money for the Polaris , more weight, torque , and a smoother ride. 2013 Rubicon 500 cc bike with 14 inch wheel tire combo , winch and plow , $11,100 . Sportsman 850 WITH EPS , already has 14 inch wheels , add a plow and winch and I'm OTD at 9600. That is with the rebate .
Bottom line your best defense is insurance. Need to get the deal done tomorrow , lots of work to do . Take care and stay safe ,,,
Mick
Yeah, I know you guys up in the Great White North are usually a few years behind on trends in America. Dog hunting started about 100 years ago down here and is more about the skill and breeding of the dogs than the deer itself. I hunt any way you can but mostly with a Mathews Z7 bow. My 9 year old daughter still hunts with a rifle through, she hasn't quite got the arm strength to draw a bow yet. I did a bear hunt in Canada a few years ago and saw the skill you guys have. You put sugar coated corn in a 55 gallon drum, sat in a stand right over the barrel and then shot the bear at point blank range with a rifle while it was eating. I have to say I was truly impressed with the skill it took to do that.who said anything about me having a gun???? I have rifles for hunting, but you've got me confused with the other guys on here. By the way, I'm also a avid hunter, you say you have deer dogs??? Up here in Canada we know how to hunt, and don't need dogs to chase our prey out to us, I've never herd of that before, deer dogs, talk about lazy hunting.
^^^^^^^^yepnot to jack this thread any further but displacement has little to do with exhaust note! It's the number of cylinders, cylinder configuration, diesel or gas and the designe of the exhaust system. A big v-twin sounds much different than an inline twin, as does a single cylinder on a moped? A formula 1 race car sounds amazing at maximum rpm and a nascar sounds like a pos hillbilly open exhaust (which it is). Loud in our sport leads to getting banned from trails and closing of tracks. Unless your racing at a track then you should consider your neighbors, stealth imho is the best medicine and one of the coolest things out there.
Ive been wondering how long it would take before the ******* Rambo with the lifted truck on 35s approach showed up , but he finally arrived LMAOGet a sign that says protected by smith and wesson if you can read this you are in range. Lol out here in Idaho everbody and thier goat has a firearm. Not to worried about someone taking my quad. I park mine in the back of my pickup truck and strap it down and put the ramps underneath the truck. Made a custom spot for it. Plus my truck is lifted with 35's good luck getting that out with no ramps.
