I'd have no reason to own an atv if I was going to leave it stored half the year. Mine go just about every day 365.
If you're going to leave one sitting for that long, there's other things you need to worry about than shocks and springs. You need to drain all the fuel, fog the engine, remove the battery and keep it maintained, block all orifices and take steps to protect against wiring damage from rodents and to keep them from setting up housekeeping inside your machine. I suppose you could build a hoist system to suspend it from the ceiling and that would take the weight off the suspension while making it inaccessible to critters at the same time.
