I accidentally hooked up a new battery backwards on my quad back in the summer. The poles were opposite of the one that I removed...but I should have at least checked. Regardless now, what's done is done and now I'm having some problems. My quad will not hold a charge. I can charge the battery and it will start, but the next day it will be run down again. I'm wondering if there is a diode or something that I could have zapped.

Anybody have any insight to point me in the right direction for diagnosing this?

Thanks

Edit: The first FIRST thing you should do is check your fuses.

I don't have experience with this specifically but what I would do first is try hooking up another battery that you know can hold a charge. It's possible that the battery will no longer hold a charge from the bike [one of my lawn tractor batteries will hold a slight charge from the charger but not from the tractor. Too cheap to buy a new one].

If that doesn't work then I would imagine it's a problem with your stator/magneto. You could try swapping it out if you have the cash.
