Does speedo light up when you turn key and engine shutoff switch? 4x4 routed thru speedo so check all pod connectors. Do indicator lights work as they also affect 4x4? 12V to the hubs in 4x4 mode? Transmission position switches?

When I bought my 2001 sportsman , the speedo didn't work either. Usually all you have to do is buy the "hall effect sensor" that goes to the front right rotor. Follow it back up to the pod, it's just a plug in connection and bolt on at the rotor. About $50 Then your speedo and 4x4 should work......
