Good morning fellow ATV fans. I used to own a Big Boss, the 500 model, chain driven. I think it was built around 2008. Both my friends owned the same machine and we would use them to carry our hunting gear in to and out of moose hunting camp. All would be loaded down and pulling trailers. Machines worked fine. No issues other than one guy rounded off the sprocket because he did not adjust the rear chains. We did have the occasional overheating issue due to mud covering the radiator.

I plan to get back into the 6X6 game and am torn between the new Polaris and the Outlander 1000. Both have + and -'s and I can't ignore the Outlander costs more.
How rugged are the new Polaris models?
If I have the machine loaded with 400 pounds in the bed and pull a meat wagon weighing about 8-900 pounds what should I expect for fuel economy? We have a 35-40 mile journey to get to camp. I may add tracks to the rear wheels at some point.

Polaris just did a update to the 2 up and 6x6 but it went crazy on the price for the 6x6 570 is $15,000.

I'm a Polaris guy but in this case I would have to get the Can Am 650 or 1000 6x6.

So far the radiator relocate kit and the extra storage compartment in the bed of the Outlander has me leaning to paying the extra money for the 1000.
Fuel economy is important because where we hunt we have to carry enough gas to drive in and out (80 miles) plus our day to day running around.

Its just me, but does it have to be an ATV if you are carrying all that weight? If you spend a little bit more you could get a Defender with the long bed and not have to worry about anything. Could carry 20 extra gallons and all that weight and still get the job done with ease. As much as I love Polaris, they dont offer as much hunting wise as Can-Am does for size/bed space. They even have a 6x6 model for only $21k starting.

It has to be ATV.
I'm anti SXS.
That's why I modified my
Scrambler XP1000 S so I could out do the SXS.
It's so satisfying that when I go around SXS that is turning around on a trail that has a big rock walls. This has happened 3 times on the same trial 38 and I have only saw one SXS climb it and he hit it 3 times hard before he made it and I was talking to the next guy and he said he wouldn't try it and a laughed at him and said I've been up it five times today .
So I showed him another trail to get to the top.
