I have a 2001 Sportsman 400. The brake hand lever no longer will stop the ATV. I'm sure it's low on fluid.

I tried to unscrew the top of the reservoir and think I stripped the little star screw. What is the best way to fix this? Can it be fixed, or do I need to buy a new reservoir?

Help!

Did you strip the head or the threads? If its just the head you can grind a slot to accept a flathead screwdriver. If its the threads, drill it out re tap 1 size bigger or heli coil it.

I did the same on an old Suzuki Eiger and I just took a small flat head bit that fit in one of the star slots, smacked it a couple times with a hammer and they came right out.

Use a Dremel tool with a cutting wheel to cut a slot for a flat screw driver bit. I average having to fix one buggered up by the owner a couple times a month. I keep a box of new replacement cap screws on the shelf at all times.
