Picked up a pair of new '09 500 EFI Sportsmans today. Took them up to the G/F's family's house (near the MO/IA border) to play in the snow. Got the green one hung up on a washed out trail (tried to drive up a single track and rubbed the left side pretty good.) And then buried them both in about 30" of snow standing on a trail next to a corn field. Good times!

Holy giant pictures, Batman. Got those sized down.

So... now that I've probably broken every proper breaking-in rule there is, what SHOULD I have done with these factory fresh 500's? (I'll try the search tool now)

The green seems a little smoky on startup, and runs just a touch rougher than the red.

I'm considering getting winches now, though I don't know if they would have been much help here

It looks like an emergency snow shovel needs to be with you on your rides!

Nice pictures!

Winches are sure a nice option. Extra rope is nice to have along also. As for the break-in - well just follow the owners book. Keep an eye on oil levels and change the oil & filter at the proper hours/miles. Have fun (seems you already know how to do that)!
