I have a 2003 sportsman 700. While in the process of replacing the front lower ball joints the c v joint popped out. In order for me to pop it back in I needed to remove the clamp, closet to the hub, that holds the boot on so I can pop the joint back in. I'm having a hell of a time trying to refasten the clamp. Is there an easy way? Do I need to disassemble the entire hub to make it easier? Is there a special tool needed? I've already downed a 6 pack trying to figure this clamp out. Thanks in advance.

They make a tool for the clamps (I got mine at NAPA) that makes life much easier. Or, if you're cheap, you can make your own out of a set of needle-nose pliers. Do a Google image search for "CV Joint Clamp Tool" and the pics should give you an idea of what you're trying to make with the pliers.

This may be a dumb question, but you are using a new clamp, right? I wouldn't reuse the clamp if you can avoid it.
