I am rebuilding the carb in my 2004 Polaris sportsman 500 H.O. And the long needle with the clip on the end fell out. I have a new one but I am not sure what notch to put the clip on. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know if the new one will work or not - the mechanic will have to determine that - unless the kit included a new needle jet, I would just reuse the old needle - in the pic, I don't see any wear on it.

Also, I don't know what kind of carb you have or what kind of kit you got.

The size and shape at the point is what makes the difference in performance. If you can see it there will be a number stamped into the needle below the grooves for the e-clip. If they are the same, the use the new one. Otherwise use the original.
