Was wondering how the cable mounts on a polaris winch, is there a bolt and eyelet on the cable or does it just loop around inside a spot on the drum?

This is hard to explain, but there is a recess cut out of the drum. The cable loops back on itself around a small metal cylinder. That stops the cable from pulling out of the recessed hole. No screws, bolts or eyelets. You will see when you unspool all the cable.

Just be sure your fairlead is not damaged if you change to rope. If it is you will destroy your new rope in a short time.

ditto on what thor said, if its rough and feels like sand paper, you got 2 choices you can sand the rollers till there smooth like new (if you have a power sander of some sorts) or buy new ones either will save your new 60 doller synthetic rope.
