I have a 2008 sportsman 300 and a few years back both the front outer cv boots cracked and I continued to ride it through mud and dirt and now they both need to be changed. I’ve read you need to take the whole front driveshaft out I’m just really confused on how to take it out or if there is an easier way of just changing the outer cv joints.

Just sit down in the floor or on a stool, raise the axle up so its straight in line, put one foot against the frame, push the axle in as far as it will go and then JERK!! It should pop right out of the gearcase.
If that don't work post back and we'll give you alternative methods to remove them.
They are held in place with a spring ring on the end of the cv splines #6.
