On the last two rides of my 2018 1000 XP I have been noticing when decelerating the check engine comes on and it feels like a loss of power. It returns to normal as soon as you re apply the throttle. I plan on taking it to the dealer in the morning, just thought I would throw it out here to see if anyone had any ideas as to what's going on. The quad has 207 miles on it.

Edited to add:

Today I took it for a ride and was able to retrieve a code 31 520275. It has something to do with braking and throttle at the same time. I really don't know if am doing that or not. My next ride I will pay attention and report back.

I did the same thing for quite a while. Took it to the dealer 114 codes for code 31. You are touching the break and throttle at the same time. I am an old dirt biker, cannot break myself from old habits.
I disconnect the break switch and installed a horn switch to get it started. Push the button and turn the key. No more brake lights but I don't follow myself around so it does not bother me.

I have some experience with that: The Check Engine light came on continously in my 2017 850Sp Touring. In going thru all the BS with that with the dealer, the mechanic told me that sometimes it will do that upon deceleration-something to do with the drive belt slipping and tripping the sensor, which throws the code. I'm pretty sure its an adjustment they can do to correct it.

The 17 850 is not "fly by the wire" electronic throttle. Only the 1000 xp has it. There is no adjusment for this other than keeping your fingers off the "Throttle and Break" at the same time.

light

I am learning to ignore the light. I didn't realize I was braking and throttling at the same time but I am doing it all the time. Talked with a tech and he told me there are computer flashes that racers use that disable this fault. Now that I know what it is, it doesn't bug me much when it happens.

It is pretty easy to by-pass. In the headlight pod there is a disconnect (grey two prong), just unplug that connection. Then find a two wire horn button and hook it up to the connection that you just unplugged.

It also disables your brake lights but you can still start the bike by pushing the button and turning the key at the same time.

I just ordered a hydraulic break switch that screws into the foot brake. When you step on the rear brake peddle the hydraulic pressure closes the switch. Just run a set of wires to the pod. Step on the foot break and turn the key.
