Hey Guys,

I was plowing the other day and the display read "Engine Hot" then went away after a short idle period. The day after I went to start it and all I got was a clicking sound. I jumped it and when I went to use the winch it instantly died on me. I jumped it again and tried to move it inside, however it died while moving it. Am I safe to assume that the battery is dead? I do not have access to a volt-meter for the battery. The battery is new as of 5 months ago, however bought it from the local Auto-Zone and not a top of the line battery.

I have a 2007 Sportsman 500 EFI.

thanks for any input!!

sounds like bad battery to me, if you have to ju,p it to start it, do you have a battery charger?, the winch puts a big load on battery and charging system while plowing, if you go into diagnostic mode on display it will tell you battery voltage, it may be dead too though, I think I would get battery tested and buy one of the AGM batteries if its bad

Russ got it. Also, your battery may still be under warranty. Check it out. Most powersports batteries have a 6 month warranty.

Hey guys, I installed a new Scorpion AGM battery today and it seems to have done the trick! We'll see how it holds up when plowing this winter. Anyone have suggestions on a battery tender and when to use it? I have one now, however not sure when or how long to use it for.

Thanks!!
