Turns out there was a bad electrical connection at the switch on the pod. The bad connection was sending current to the cycloid all the time causing it to get hot and engage the turf mode. Cleaned up connections and put electrical grease on them. So far so good, I'll keep an eye on it.

Fuel gauge

Polaris rep said that there fuel gauges are not that accurate. He said as long as they are working that's all you get. He said you have to know your ATV. Not the answer I was looking for but whatever! When your display starts flashing you better get fuel FAST. By the way does anyone know how far you can go when it does start flashing?
08 sp 800 I get about ten miles after flashing for a total of 70 miles, not bad for an 800 twin
You should get at least 30 miles after the light starts flashing.
On our 2008 700X2 and 2007 800X2 both get right at 100 miles before the light flashes and then another 30 plus miles. Never ran either one all the way out. If we are on some slow steep trails the light will start flashing closer to 80 miles.
Safe riding

thats not the quite the experience i have had. the fuel gauge was also really bottom heavy, as in it took a lot of fuel to get the first few bars up and then the top 3 bar appeared fast, so you think you have less fuel then you really did on the trail. also you should be getting more then 10 miles when the fuel gauge flashes
