I have a 2013 polaris 500, was curious how well the foot brake works and tried it out. A loud clicking noise comes from the back end when I apply it? Dealer looked it over and said that it is normal. Can anyone confirm that?

Yes it's normal. Do yourself a favor and don't use it. The hand brake works all four tires and stops on a dime. Plus the foot brake doesn't work the brake light. It took awhile to get my wife to stop using it because the Yamaha you would use the foot and hand brake. I would hate to see someone hit you when your riding!!

On the XP line (I assume similar operation on the value line) the foot brake peg activates a separate pump/actuator for the rear wheels. That's the clicking you're hearing. The rear/backup brake system doesn't have a traditional master cylinder, it just has a reservoir and an actuator.
