Just bought the Wife a 2016 570, got to the riding site and when you press on the throttle there is a banging, clunking sound below like something engaging. Don't know if its from the clutching or drive train. Is this normal?

Thanks,
Dave G.

That thread I found was mostly when braking, hers only happens when accelerating from a stop you'll hear bang/clank then after that it doesn't do it again until you accelerate again from a stop.

If it wasn't a new ATV I would consider the silent chain jumping the sprocket inside the transmission. It would sound like a quick ratcheting type clunking on a fast take off, not a single bang/clunk. Like I said being new it's unlikely that chain would be worn enough yet but it may be something to consider if it starts making several clunks in concession.

I find that the front axles tend to clunk on pushing gas, then the driveshaft leading to the front diff clunk on letting go of gas.

It's quite normal. Just keep an eye on free-play in axles and the drive shaft. Some is ok. Drive it and don't worry. The bike gets quieter as it gets more hours and miles on it. It's annoying to hear a brand new machine clunking, but its ok.

Mine had the same noise on take off. Talked to dealer about it and they said it was the clutch engagement and it would slow go away and I have to say he was right in my circumstance. I was worried as you are but no more...

I have a 2015 Sportsman 570 EFI (1,110 miles) and had this same noise. Removed the transmission to find the chain tensioner was at its max. The pins that connect the links of the Silent Chain wear which causes the chain to be longer. When the tensioner can no longer keep the chain tight, the chain slips on the 19T sprocket. This is what is causing the loud popping noise. The factory replacement is 3234057 and is $140-$200 depending on where you get one. My problem is I am trying to find an aftermarket alternative. The chain has 86 pins and is 11 plates wide. Any thoughts or part number on another chain that will work?

I know this is an old thread, but hopefully someone can still acknowledge. I'm having g the same problem, I'm going to try a belt swap and see if that may help, maybe. But the funny thing is that the clunk doesn't happen "all" the time. Like if I am driving in forward, high or low, and switch into low or reverse after stopping it doesn't exist.. or.... if I lightly brake and start off there's nothing, no clunk, no play or whatever, just perfect... it's fricking weird and annoying.... you'd think with resistance from braking that it'd be worse. Tried forward, reverse forward and reverse with a light brake and no noise or anything. Without light braking, clunk.

Makes no sense to me...
