Got my belt deflection set right. Now trying to set my clutch alignment. My repair manual says I need a special tool has anyone done it without it?

Someone has had to figure away to do this without special tools. I aint going to the dealer just to get it aligned
Ya seen them. But trying to save a few bucks for other stuff. Thats why i wondering if there is a way to do it without the tool.
Buying the tool is still cheaper than making the dealer do it, plus you'll have it for next time.
Not saying that at all as I have zero experience with the tool or clutch alignment. Looking at how it's made though, I think you could use any straight edge you could fit in the case.
