I have an 01 500, owned it since the first mile. It has about 2500 miles on it now. It was working great, then it sat for about 6 months w/o being used. Now when you let off the throttle, the clutch doesn't seem to be disengaging as it still chugs forward at idle.

We have to turn it off to change gears, or when we come to stop...Kind of a dangerous situation.

Other than fluid changes, I haven't had to do a thing to this ATV, so I guess it's time for something...LOL.

Any idea what's wrong? What needs to be adjusted or replaced?

Thank you.

What you experiencing is called "creeping." If your clutch has never been serviced or your belt changed....it's wayyyy overdue.

Start by removing your clutch cover, blowout the clutch with compressed air and replace your belt. If you still have a problem, then some adjustments will be needed and some parts will have to be replaced.
