There's a good 50" trail down toward the lake on the Lake City side FPD. Lost Trail Creek crosses the Continental Divide and comes out just above Rio Grande Reservoir. The headwaters of the Rio Grande River. Can't remember for sure but I think its trail 821. When you come out down there you can hang a right and its about 20 miles I think back toward Silverton and then loop back up Animas Forks.
Cannibal Plateau is a pretty cool ride too.

It appears you've had a pretty good trip. Hope it didn't rain on you too much. I've kept an eye on the weather and it looks like the monsoon season has been heavy out there this year. I'd guess the creek crossing are full. It's been pretty rough around here this week too. We've been ok but many have not been so lucky.

Rain just 1 day when riding the Alpine Loop, was heavy for the last hour of loop, everyone had rain gear and no one melted! Had a little at night a few times but I love the putter patter of rain on the tent when sleeping, smoothing!!

They sure did like the Sea Salt peanuts I was feeding them!

We got over run with those litte buggers at our home. They dug up all my wifes tulip bulbs and took the petunia pedals and jammed them in the air-box of our Jimmy.

They are kind of cute, for a while. Kind of like the first snow fall of the year. The first one or two is nice and then you begin to hate it.

I got a pellet gun and a snow plow.

The week of 06/25 - 7/1 we'll be in Utah doing the Paiute trail system. I'll be ready to go again when you get to Colorado a week or two after!!

Sorry for the delay in responding, but we just went through a very severe ice storm and I was out of power and internet for about 25 hours things just getting back to normal.

The sniper tires are awesome very good on hard rocks high speed and the trails. I got them because their DOT approved which a lot of the out west states are now going to. I'm not a deep mud guy so I cannot advise you on that. One of the better upgrades I've done to the ATV for sure.

Yes we have a trip again planned in 2023 in July. As a group we decide where we're going to go we're all from the Midwest so we normally take a week in South Dakota and then the second week to be determined yet.
