The cooling fan on my 2004 400 sportsman will not shut off I have to disconnect the battery to shut it off. The HOT warning was flashing on the dispay but no longer flashes. Could it be a relay or is it the temp sensor, any Ideas would help.

Update on this temp sensor problem. At the exact same time the cooling fan and temp light started acting up I got bad gas dumped in the fuel tank and the engine started missing at high rpms. I cleaned the fuel tank, fuel lines, new fuel filter and cleaned the carb (twice), and opened up the fuel pump which was fine. It Idles better and runs better at low rpm still bogs down and misses at higher rpms. I check the cam it's fine,I checked the muffler to see if it were plugged it's fine. The temp light works fine now but the cooling fan still runs even with the key in the off position. Disconecting the battery shuts it off. The temp sensor tests fine at cold temps so it should turn off the fan correct? Next step a new ecm I still have the old reject ecm that came from the factory. For some reason The 400's were the only ones that didn't have a recall. Why? Actually the missing and sputtering acts like when you are in reverse. I guess that along with the cooling fan problems are symptoms of a bad ecm box. Again can someone tell me why the 400's in 04 never had a recall on these. Enough rambling, It's getting tougher to fend off the Honda guys
