Get a good light and look it over good. Looking for any cracks. Then pull off the bolt and inspect. Lastly apply a little lube and re install and tighten. See what you get...I have an 09 sportsman HO LE.
Last week I had all the plastics off the front end. Now they are back on and after today's ride my front "drivers" side shock is making a creaking noise when I push down on it. Could this be the result of putting the plastics back on? It seems to be creaking towards the top where it connects to the frame. The box screw is right next to it.
The upper part of the shock has hard plastic and rubber mounts on it. They might just need lubed or 1 might be broken. Look up the parts diagram for your atv on a Polaris parts website and you will get a better idea of what we are talking about. The hard cone shaped plastic is bad about cracking.Where would the cracks most likely be?
