Finally got out to prep some of the feeders at my lease today. Filled my dads, mine, and another hunters. The other guys are coming out in a few weeks and said they would take care of theirs. Don’t think I wanted more than 1800lbs in the bed and cab of my half ton anyway though.

Haven’t had any real rain out hear in probably 60 days or more with more days over 100 than not.

Didn’t stop the deer from coming out this afternoon either way. Feeders have been empty since about January, filled the 3 of them and had deer at mine before I was 20’ away. Nice full moon out though, so no need for the night vision until some bacon wanders out.

I finally got my first deer of the season Thursday afternoon, only took 5 weeks into the season to get her. Took a buck about an hour later, wasn’t a big buck but the biggest I’ve gotten out of the trees. The acorns are still in abundance right now.

The impact of the shot was a nice sound. I wish I could get the video to post.

Hunting season ended here in Montana Thanksgiving weekend. Always does.
Anyhow, I have a friend of ours that is a real city girl. She is always trying to save the planet by keeping stuff out of the land fill and trying to recycle stuff.
She had some pumpkins to recycle? She asked me if she could put them somewhere on my property so the deer could eat them. I thought to myself, "This is an odd request, but what the hell, she is a good friend and if it makes her feel better about the planet, go ahead."

So she brought them out to the house and I put them in the front yard. First night out the elk came and tried to eat them. They were frozen to hard to eat but they chewed on them. This morning I busted the pumpkins open with a shovel. The elk showed up right in the middle of the day to eat pumpkins.

Where is your SNOW?
Not much snow yet. That is why the ski area I live on is abandon.. Winters are getting shorter and less snow. I am only at 6200 feet. There is more snow up higher but not much. Hoping for more soon. The forecast for next week is predicting snow.

We had a little around mid-November and thankfully it all melted away in 2 or 3 days. It started snowing on our way home with the deer this evening.

My daughters deer pictures didn’t do the deer any justice on her size. This is a damn big doe.
